About slimdroid

slimdroid is a free browser tool that reads an Android phone over USB and shows what every app costs, what it can access and whether it is safe to switch off. It lives at slimdroid.com and was formerly called debloat. This page says how it works and where it stops.

Updated

How it decides what is safe

Each package is looked up in a built-in knowledge base of 125 named packages and 29 pattern families. Every entry has a tier (critical, core, judgement call, bloat) and a plain reason. Anything it does not recognise is labelled unknown instead of guessed. The tiers are explained here.

What it measures

What it does not do

Every change can be undone

Disable and uninstall apply to your user only, the APK stays on the phone, each command is journalled and the state is read back from the phone to confirm it. A factory reset restores everything. How to debloat without root.

Your data

The scan runs in your browser tab, results stay in your browser and the tool makes no network requests while you work. See the privacy page.
